DNF Templates

Hey, fellow book lovers!

If you’re anything like me, keeping your Bookstagram fresh and engaging can be a real challenge, especially when you’re juggling reading and creating content. That’s why I’m super excited to share my new “DNF Templates” with you! Whether you’re looking to track the books you couldn’t quite finish this month or want a yearly record of your DNFs, I’ve got you covered.

I’ve designed four cute and functional templates just for you:

  1. Monthly DNFs: Keep track of the books you didn’t finish each month.
  2. DNFs of 2024: A year-long tracker for all your DNFs, both soft and hard.
  3. DNF List: A comprehensive list for all the books you’ve DNFed.
  4. Yearly DNFs: A versatile template you can use any year to track your DNFs.

As a former Bookstagrammer, I know how much effort goes into creating daily content, so I hope these templates make your life a little easier and your Bookstagram a lot cuter. Plus, I wanted to talk more about how I feel about DNFing a book (make sure to check that down below), and I’d love to hear what factors make you DNF one too.

Feel free to download the templates and let me know in the comments what books you’re reading this month and what other Instagram Story templates you’d like to see. Psstโ€ฆ don’t miss out on future freebies! Subscribe to my email notifications to get the latest freebies and updates straight to your inbox! Happy reading!

Gabby.

DNF Templates

My opinion on DNFing books…

As readers, we often forget that it’s perfectly okay to take our time and decide that the books we’re reading aren’t giving us the feelings we seek. Sometimes, the timing isn’t right, or perhaps the story just isn’t resonating with us. With ever-growing TBR piles, it’s important to remember that we shouldn’t feel obligated to push through a book that makes us cringe or is filled with tropes we dislike. Our time and effort are valuable, and we deserve to spend them on books that bring us joy and fulfillment.

When we decide to DNF a book, we should give ourselves grace and recognize that it’s part of the journey of being a reader. Each book we pick up is a new adventure, and not every adventure will be the right fit for us. It’s natural to come across stories that don’t capture our interest or connect with our current mood.

By allowing ourselves to DNF, we open up space for the books that will truly captivate us and add to our reading enjoyment. Reading should be a source of pleasure and escape, not a chore or an assignment. If reading is your hobby, make sure you prioritize enjoying it. There’s no point in suffering through a book that you’re not connecting with. Embrace the freedom to DNF without guilt, knowing that it’s all part of discovering the stories that truly resonate with you. If you use Goodreads (make sure to follow me over there too!) you can see how to create a โ€˜DNFโ€™ shelf on your Goodreads profile here.

To help you keep track of your reading journey, I’ve created some fun and functional “DNF Templates” for your Instagram Stories. These templates include a Monthly DNFs tracker, so you can note the books you didn’t finish each month, and a DNFs of 2024 template, which allows you to keep a year-long record of all your DNFs. There’s also a DNF List template for a comprehensive overview of all the books you’ve decided not to finish, and a Yearly DNFs template that’s versatile enough to use any year.

Feel free to download these templates and share your experiences in the comments. Let me know what books you’re reading this month and what other Instagram Story templates you’d like to see. Give yourself some grace and remember that each DNF is just a step closer to finding the perfect read.

Embrace your reading journey! Pin your favorite bookish template and save it to share it later on your social media.
